The purpose was to provide a translation suitable for liturgical use. Throughout the 1970s and early 1971, auditors (writers, university professors, poets, musicians) were working on a revision to improve readability. CEI 1974 is another revision made between (1972-1974) to correct little minor style defects. The Bibbia Conferenza Episcopale Italiana (CEI) is divided into two testaments.
