Train your ear for polymeter: odd cycles and displaced phrases, in the round.

OFFSET is a rhythm laboratory. Pick an odd cycle — 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 or 17 steps — let it turn against a 4/4 pulse, and hear the offset build, drift, and resolve exactly where the two start together again. This is how polymeter and modern metal work: a phrase that does not land on the bar and shifts a little further with every repetition. OFFSET makes it audible and visible. WHAT YOU CAN DO • 14 patterns ready to play: 7 polymetric cycles and 7 displaced phrases built on the offset riff (offsets -2 to +2, 2+3 chains, phrases spanning 2 and 3 bars). • Two visualisations. In circle mode, two concentric rings turn at different speeds. In timeline mode, two rows slide against each other. Either way, a counter shows how many steps are left before the next realignment. • Mute a layer by tapping its ring or its row. Keep the pulse alone to stay grounded, or the phrase alone to feel it. • Choose the sound of each layer independently, from nine: metronome, wood block, claves, hi-hat, kick, snare, cajón, djembe, drum kit. • Tempo from 40 to 200 BPM, adjustable pulse volume, ghost notes on or off. • Hypermetric resolution: let the phrase run free until it realigns, or cut it back every 2, 4 or 8 bars — the way a riff actually resolves inside a song. WHO IT IS FOR Drummers, guitarists, bass players, and anyone who wants to stop counting and start hearing. Useful for preparing a piece in an odd meter, for working on independence, or simply for understanding what is going on in a riff that seems to slip. UNDER THE HOOD The audio engine places every sound to the sample, following the audio output clock rather than the system clock: the offset you hear is the rhythm's, never the phone's. The screen stays on while you practise. PRIVACY No account, no ads, no trackers. The app requests no permission and has no internet access. Your settings never leave your device.
