On the Trail of the Berlin Wall with BerlinWallFinder

This Berlin Wall app shows you where the Wall once stood in Berlin and where its remains can still be found today. It provides useful information about the Wall itself, historical events, remnants, escapes, border crossings, and highlights other interesting locations. If desired, the app can use "Auto Mode" to determine your location and automatically display where you are. Are you in the East or West of Berlin? In the former border zone of the heavily guarded Berlin Wall installations? Many people – including younger Berliners, tourists, or newcomers – often wonder whether they are in the eastern or western part of the city. Today, that question is far less important than it used to be, when the answer meant whether you were in the communist or capitalist part of Berlin. The BerlinWallFinder app shows you exactly that. The Wall caused much suffering, and for many East German citizens, the dream of crossing to the other side – or even just visiting it, as people cautiously said back then – never came true. It stood for 28 years and mercilessly divided the city in half. Find original wall remains or even parts of the original Berlin Wall and use the navigation feature to guide you there. On special days, the app reminds you of what happened on that same date in the past: successful and failed escapes, significant events. Always remember that the now seemingly harmless remains once caused incredible drama, fates, and suffering. With the BerlinWallFinder app, you can always find out whether you’re in East Berlin, West Berlin, or the former death strip – and gain fascinating historical insights. The Berlin Wall was the deadliest border in the world, dividing the city for 28 years from August 13, 1961, to November 9, 1989, through its deadly border systems into two parts: East and West Berlin. Here, during the Cold War, capitalism and communism collided. There was communist East Berlin and capitalist West Berlin. People from East Berlin (Eastern sector) were not allowed to travel to the West and were prevented from doing so by the Wall and its sophisticated border systems. Today, the Berlin Wall has almost completely disappeared from the cityscape. Only with effort can you still find traces of it. There are only a few places left where parts of the original Wall are still preserved. Many tourists – and even Berliners – wonder: Where was this deadly border actually located? Am I in the West, the East, or even in the so-called death strip? As a visitor or curious explorer, it takes time and local knowledge to find these traces. This app shows you exactly where you are at any time. Additionally, the app provides users with important background information about historical sites and events related to the border installations: - Color-coded display of East and West Berlin boundaries on a map - Direct navigation support - Visualization of the former border, including the death strip - Display of your current location and description of where you are – auto mode - Display of border crossings and wall remnants - Display of interesting and memorable places related to both past and present history - Multilingual (English, German) After installing BerlinWallFinder, you’ll have full, unrestricted access for 2 days. Afterwards, you can purchase the full version for unlimited use.
