Standing in the aisle with a packet in your hand? Start at the barcode. Point your camera at the barcode on the packaging. If the product is already known to HalalLens, you get its halal status together with the ingredient list behind it. If the product is not known yet, photograph the ingredient label instead — and AI reads it for you, ingredient by ingredient. 📷 HOW A CHECK WORKS 1. Scan the barcode on the pack. 2. Known product: see the halal status, the ingredients it was based on, and how many people have already checked it. 3. Unknown product: photograph the ingredient label and let the AI read every ingredient it can find. 🧾 A MISSING PRODUCT IS NOT A DEAD END When a barcode has no match, the label photo becomes the answer. Your scan also adds that product to the shared database, so the next person who scans the same barcode finds it already there. Community scans build the catalogue that everyone else searches. 🔎 INGREDIENT-LEVEL EVIDENCE, NOT JUST A COLOUR • Each ingredient is listed with its own status: halal, haram or mushbooh (doubtful) • Additives, E-numbers, emulsifiers, flavourings and gelatin appear as their own entries instead of disappearing into one summary • Open an ingredient to read what it actually is and why it is classified that way • The product status follows from ingredients you can read for yourself 📴 OFFLINE INGREDIENT DICTIONARY Download the ingredient dictionary to your phone, then look ingredients up with no connection at all — in a basement supermarket, on a plane, or abroad on a weak signal. 🕘 YOUR SCAN HISTORY STAYS YOURS • Every scan is kept in your own history • Filter by halal status and re-check a product whenever you want • Export or delete your data from inside the app 👤 NO ACCOUNT NEEDED TO START Scan as a guest from the first launch. It tells you what is known about each ingredient on the pack. It is not a certifying body, it does not issue religious rulings, and it cannot see anything the manufacturer did not print. Recipes change and suppliers change. For anything that matters to you, read the packaging, ask the manufacturer, and follow the guidance you personally trust.
