GrocyWise is a shopping list built as a tool — thought through from start to finish, built for efficiency and minimal taps, without useless features. All the sensible features combined in one app. Stable online and offline. No ads that block your flow. No tricks to push you into a subscription. No flaky indie project. No account — and consistently optimized for privacy. All in one app: learning input, recipe groups, live sharing with your household, offline robustness, home-screen widget, .dishes import, and an AI recipe tool. Nothing in the way, nothing overdone. How it looks in real life: ◦ Set up meals & groups You think through your recipes and standard groups, set them up in a few taps. Share them with friends as open .dishes files. Use the AI-Prompt to have your own AI — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini — turn recipe text or a URL into a .dishes file. The foundation is ready. ◦ Build the shopping list You go through your groups with your partner — the list is shared live. 4 ideas, 4 taps — the recipes are in the list. Your standard supermarket group goes in on top. ◦ Multiple lists in parallel Need something from the drugstore or hardware store? GrocyWise keeps multiple lists in parallel — each with its own category logic. A tap switches between them, your saved groups drop in just as fast. ◦ Finalize the list You scan it, swipe out what's already in your pantry. Type what's missing — 1 or 2 letters are usually enough, your frequent items show up as suggestions, one tap adds them. Quantity, unit, note settable inline. Category gets assigned automatically — learned from the community or, if you prefer, only locally from your own habits. ◦ On the way to the store You're done. Anything your partner thinks of lands in the list live. On the go you're constantly switching between offline and online — that's exactly what the sync logic is hardened for. You get subtle notices for new entries, and everything arrives cleanly. No duplicates, no "connection lost" dialogs, no lost checkmarks. ◦ At the store You go through just the open items — check off done ones with a tap. The widget on your home screen shows the same list in the same order, without having to open the app. Similar to other apps. Just better. WHAT'S NOT IN THE APP No ads. No in-app purchases. WHY IT STAYS THIS WAY Almost every app today is an ad machine, a subscription trap, or a tracking channel — or simply broken. GrocyWise is built differently. Here the tool matters, not the monetization. If server costs ever exceed what I can cover myself, we'll figure it out. Maybe voluntary donations. But this project won't become a money-extraction machine. That's my promise.
