This book helps you prepare for the first-class architect's license exam by understanding the concepts through diagrams. With diagrams illustrating structures and construction, detailed explanations for all questions, and automatic review based on the forgetting curve, you can acquire the skills to pass even through self-study.
This learning app guides you to passing the first-class architect's written exam by helping you understand the concepts through diagrams. It was created for those who want to steadily improve their score while working and studying independently with limited time. Many previous qualification apps prioritized text, with diagrams being secondary. This app reverses that approach. It uses diagrams as the main focus, allowing you to understand structural mechanics diagrams and construction detail diagrams, and then seamlessly transition to question-and-answer exercises and past exam practice. Instead of rote memorization, you use diagrams as a guide to understand *why* things are the way they are before solving problems. This approach significantly improves your score in structural and construction-related questions, areas where self-study often stumbles. Many structural questions on the written exam require interpreting diagrams. Ignoring diagrams will directly lead to lost points on the actual exam. That's why we focused on understanding through diagrams from the very beginning. Three Stages of Understanding Through Diagrams First, through diagrammatic learning, you'll grasp the key points by interpreting the diagrams themselves, such as bending moment and shear force diagrams for simply supported beams and cantilever beams, buckling length which varies depending on support conditions, and the distribution of bending stress in cross-sections. All diagrams are accurate in both numerical values and shapes, focusing only on the essential information that will appear on the exam. We've also paid attention to intuitive color schemes, using warm colors for tension and cool colors for compression. Next, with question-and-answer drills, you'll solidify your knowledge during short breaks with quick correct/incorrect practice and multiple-choice questions. You can build your knowledge steadily, one question at a time, during your commute, breaks, or even just before bed. Finally, with past exam practice, you'll test your current abilities in the same format as the actual exam. These three stages—understanding, solidification, and practice—can be freely accessed within a single app. Incorrectly answered questions are automatically added to your review list, ensuring your weaknesses are never left unaddressed. Detailed Explanations for Every Question For every question, we provide a detailed explanation of why it is correct or incorrect, tracing back to the underlying regulations and standards. We don't simply provide the answer; we delve into easily confused boundary values, easily confused terminology, and key points frequently tested in exams. For example, in the structural section, you can understand how the location of maximum bending changes between simply supported beams and cantilevered beams, and how buckling length is determined by support conditions, illustrated with diagrams. In the construction section, you can grasp the essential practical points such as foundation work, shoring, concrete compaction and curing, steel frame bolt connections, rebar splices and cover, and waterproofing details, along with the underlying concepts. Particularly important points are illustrated with diagrams, allowing you to visually understand structural equilibrium and construction details that are difficult to convey through text alone. If you still have questions after reading the explanations, we provide links to further explore the topics based on the content. Covers all five disciplines This course covers five disciplines: Planning, Environmental Facilities, Regulations, Structure, and Construction. The most effective presentation method is chosen for each discipline. In Planning, a wide range of knowledge is organized, from architectural planning and the nature of various buildings to the history of architecture, urban planning and community development, and the concepts of construction production and cost estimation. In Environmental Facilities, areas where interpreting numerical data and graphs is key, such as heat transfer and condensation, sunlight and lighting, color and sound environments, air conditioning and ventilation, electricity and lighting, and water supply and drainage sanitation, are visually explained to aid understanding. In Regulations, the Building Standards Act and related laws are organized not simply by memorizing articles, but by understanding which articles are applicable in which situations, and by providing a cross-sectional quick reference summary. In the structural engineering section, you can systematically learn about force equilibrium and reactions, bending moments and shear forces, deflection, buckling, cross-sectional properties, the concept of seismic forces, the characteristics of reinforced concrete, steel frame, and wooden structures, and the mechanisms of collapse, all using mechanics diagrams as the main tool. In the construction section, you can grasp the essentials of foundation work, shoring, rebar work, concrete work, steel frame work, carpentry, waterproofing and finishing, construction management, scheduling, quality, and safety, along with on-site detailing diagrams. The learning method is tailored to the nature of each field, allowing you to efficiently master the broad range of topics covered. Example of a learning method: During your morning commute, you can quickly review the previous day's material with question-and-answer exercises. During your lunch break, you can read through a diagram of a structural engineering topic you find difficult. In the evening, you can solve a year's worth of past exam questions to identify your weaknesses. This accumulation of spare time is supported by automatic review based on the forgetting curve. The app calculates which problems you should solve today and when you should review them next, so you can convert the time you spend worrying about your study plan directly into problem-solving time. A system for reviewing before you forget A review algorithm based on the memory forgetting curve will present the same problem again at just the right time, when you're about to forget it. Problems you answer correctly consecutively are considered solidified, and the interval between their reappearances will be widened. Problems that are still unclear will be repeated more frequently and intensively. Instead of blindly doing a large number of problems, the system optimizes the questions according to your level of understanding, so the quality of your review surpasses the quantity. It also shows a study guideline based on the number of days remaining until the exam, allowing you to finish systematically. Cultivating your own personalized reference book You can underline both the problem statements and explanations with a marker, and write notes directly in the highlighted areas. Underlines and notes are all gathered in one place, allowing you to quickly review only your key points right before the exam. The more you use it, the more it sticks in your memory, and you'll create your own personalized reference book that you can continue to use even after passing the exam. As you add tips on how to memorize and things you noticed on the spot, it will grow into a unique book that you won't find in commercially available reference books.
