Pest Thrips of East Africa

Thrips (Order: Thysanoptera) are key pests of staples and high value horticultural crops worldwide. They inflict substantial qualitative and quantitative losses due to their feeding, transmission of tospoviruses and quarantine relevance. Their small size, cryptic feeding behaviour and diverse character states of nearly 6000 recognized thrips species constrain their detection and identification during phytosanitary inspections. This user-friendly tool aims to address this constraint and improve thrips detection and identification.
