Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma means ("great soul"). Mahatma Gandhi, whose real name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar (India) into a wealthy Indian family. Mahatma was assassinated on January 30, 1948 in Delhi (India). Mahatmat was and still is a model for many people through his practice of nonviolent resistance and his thought. Mahatma Gandhi is a charismatic figure of moral authority.
