A simple way to convert text to Braille notation and back.
A simple way to convert text to Braille notation and back. Braille is a raised-dot writing and reading system for blind and partially sighted people, developed by the Frenchman Louis Braille in the first half of the 19th century. Each symbol is made of up to six dots, embossed on thick paper or plastic. Braille helps you quickly translate text into Braille and read Braille, whether you are studying, teaching or writing: • Text to Braille: type a sentence and see the matching cells straight away. • Braille to Text: enter the cells and get the text. • Cell editor: build a character by tapping the individual dots. • Braille tables: Italian, French, Spanish, German, English, Portuguese and Russian, plus 8-dot versions for computer Braille (Italian, French and German). • Flip: shows the cells mirrored, as they appear from the back of the sheet. • Copy and paste as Unicode: share Braille characters and paste them into any app. • Dark theme, landscape and tablet layouts. • Works with screen readers. 8-dot Braille is used in computing, because it can also represent special characters and programming symbols. A Braille writer is a six-key machine, one key per dot, plus a space key. With a Braille writer, a blind person hears what they type right away; with a slate and stylus, the symbols are written in reverse compared with how they will read. Braille contains advertisements.
