Canine Logbook Scent Work

Canine Logbook Canine Logbook is a training journal built specifically for the dog scent work and nose work community. It grew out of my own training notebooks and the need to keep everything organised in one place — especially when preparing for trials, doing working spots, or tracking progress across months of training. It provides a simple, structured way to record sessions, monitor patterns, and reflect on what’s working — without unnecessary complexity. ⸻ Built for scent work and nose work training Unlike generic dog note apps, Canine Logbook focuses on the details that matter in scent work training. Designed by an active competitor and built for real handlers, it supports the way we actually train, trial, and problem-solve with our dogs. ⸻ What you can do • Create profiles to manage one or multiple dogs • Organise structured training plans • Log sessions including odours (Birch, Clove, Anise and more) • Record environments, hide types, and setup details • Rate performance and track improvement over time • Review visual progress trends • Generate Executive Summaries for instructors or courses • Export sessions and plans to PDF Everything is organised in a clean, distraction-free interface. ⸻ Works with your existing journal Canine Logbook can be used as a complete digital training log — or as a structured companion to your handwritten diary. Many handlers prefer handwritten reflections. The app can serve as the “nuts and bolts” record of odours, hides, environments, and results, complementing your journal rather than replacing it. Use it alongside your notebook, or let it become your primary log. ⸻ Built for real handlers Canine Logbook supports how the scent work community actually trains: • Quick session logging • Clear historical records • Flexible plans that adapt as training evolves • Structured summaries for courses and working spots It’s designed to support steady progress over time. ⸻ Free to use Canine Logbook is free to use. If you find it helpful for your training and my ongoing costs increase over time, I may add a small optional “buy Murphy a treat” contribution to help support the app. ⸻ Privacy and trust • No advertising • No data selling • Secure sign-in using trusted providers • Full control over your data, including account deletion ⸻ Who it’s for • Dog scent work handlers • Nose work trainers and competitors • Anyone looking for a structured way to track scent work training Canine Logbook is about learning from your training, supporting consistency, and sharing a common approach within the scent work community.
