Requested Health Connect Permissions & Justifications Steps (required) Purpose: Core metric for wellness challenges and leaderboards. User Benefit: Join challenges, track daily progress, appear on leaderboards. Scope: Reads total step counts for selected periods only. Active Calories Burned Purpose: Calculate daily effort and convert non-step activities into comparable points. User Benefit: See energy expenditure alongside steps; fair credit across activities. Scope: Aggregate calorie totals only; no raw physiological streams. Exercise Sessions (Workouts) Purpose: Credit workouts (e.g., cycling, yoga, weights) without manual entry. User Benefit: Complete picture of activity; workouts count toward goals. Scope: Session metadata (type, start/end, totals); no detailed sensor streams. Stride Cadence Purpose: Pacing and intensity insights in certain challenges. User Benefit: Monitor cadence to improve intensity and consistency. Scope: Cadence summaries relevant to step challenges only. Data Use & User Control User Control: All permissions are optional except Steps (required to participate). You can revoke access anytime in StepSense settings or Health Connect. Data Use: Used only for StepSense features (progress tracking, leaderboards, activity conversion). Data Sharing: No Health Connect data is shared outside the app or used for advertising.
