Tides, sky, weather, birds & nature — your region this week, offline.

Bearing is a field almanac for naturalists. It brings ten public-data corpora — tides, weather context, sky events, phenology, bird migration, UV guidance, pollen, and hurricane reference — into one quiet, museum-quality dashboard answering a single question: "What's happening in nature this week, where I am?" NO SUBSCRIPTION. NO LOGIN. NO ADS. NO TRACKING. Bearing is free to download. You get the full almanac free for 3 days, then a single one-time purchase unlocks it for good — no subscription, ever. The app runs entirely on your device. There is no account and no cloud. It does not request location and does not connect to the internet — every corpus is bundled, so your region and your reading stay on your device. WHAT YOU SEE • Sky — sunrise, sunset, civil/nautical/astronomical twilight, moon phase and illumination, moonrise and moonset, and meteor shower peaks. • Tides — high and low water from marquee NOAA stations covering US coasts, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. • Weather context — seasonal frost-risk and heat cues plus climate-normal framing for planning. • Phenology — bloom, leaf-out, fruit-ripen, migration, and emergence events keyed to your USDA Plant Hardiness Zone. • Birds — migratory species arriving and departing your state across all four US flyways, with USFWS-derived timing. • Health — UV guidance for outdoor planning and a regional pollen calendar. • Storm — hurricane-season reference for your basin. DESIGNED FOR DEPTH Bearing's typography is serif. Its palette is parchment and ink. Phone and tablet layouts both adapt at runtime, and dark mode is native. Every card opens to a detail view with the underlying data. DATA SOURCES NOAA Tides & Currents · National Weather Service / NOAA · NOAA National Hurricane Center · USFWS Migratory Bird Program · USDA Plant Hardiness Zones · USA-NPN Phenology Network (CC BY 4.0) · EPA UV Index · CDC pollen reference · IAU Meteor Data Center · AMS meteor calendar. WHAT BEARING IS NOT Bearing is not a social network, a gamified life-list, a scanner, or a data-collection tool. It will not nag you. It does not have a streak. Open it to plan a hike, a tide-pool trip, a bird walk, a meteor watch, a sunrise paddle, or a sunset cocktail. NOT FOR NAVIGATION OR LIFE-SAFETY Tide, weather, and storm figures are reference values that can be incomplete or out of date. For watches, warnings, and forecasts, rely on the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center directly. Bearing is an independent app from Rizk Corsight, LLC and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NOAA, the National Weather Service, USDA, USFWS, EPA, the CDC, the National Hurricane Center, the USA National Phenology Network, the International Astronomical Union, the American Meteor Society, or any other organization referenced in the app. Phenology data from the USA National Phenology Network is used under CC BY 4.0.
