Plant Discover: Identifier

Plant Discover asks what you can see before it tells you what it found. Most plant identifier apps hand you a name and no way to check it. Plant Discover gives you an answer you can test — because you do the looking first. NOTICE, GUESS, REVEAL Photograph a plant. Mark what you can actually see on your own photo: leaves, growth habit, flowers and bark. Three candidates then arrive as A, B and C with their names held back, so the only thing left to go on is the evidence in front of you. You commit to one. Only then does the match appear, together with the marks that support it, the guess you made, and the details to compare next. That is the whole difference: you get a name and the reasons for it, in that order. 1,871 PLANT SPECIES, IDENTIFIED ON YOUR PHONE The offline catalog holds 1,871 plant species, listed by scientific name — trees, shrubs, wildflowers, grasses, vines, ferns, orchids and cacti. Plant identification runs on the phone itself: the catalog, the photographs and the matching all ship inside the app, so it works on a hillside with no bars. NO ACCOUNT, NO SIGN-UP There is no registration, no login, and no profile. Your photos and your notes stay on your phone. A WRITTEN FIELD-GUIDE ENTRY FOR EVERY SPECIES All 1,871 species carry an entry written for them: visible marks, size band, growth habit, habitat, photo tips, and notes on the species they are most often confused with. Alongside them sit 1,231 licensed photographs from 472 credited photographers — CC0, CC BY and CC BY-SA only, with the photographer named in the app. WHEN THE GUIDE DOES NOT HAVE IT, IT SAYS SO The catalog is 1,871 species, not the whole of botany. When your photo falls outside it, the app tells you the guide holds no entry for that one, shows the closest species it does hold, and points at what to compare — rather than handing you a name it cannot stand behind. An honest "no clear match" is more useful than a confident wrong answer. IN 45 LANGUAGES The interface and every field-guide entry are written in 45 languages. Species are listed by scientific name, with a common name where one has been verified. It is an identification aid for learning, not a foraging, medical, or safety guide, and its matches can be wrong. Do not rely on it to decide whether a plant is safe to eat, touch, or use.
