Saltydog initially launched in 2010. But the idea and methodology had been bubbling away many years before. Douglas Chadwick originally devised the Saltydog trend investing system for his own use. He was very dissatisfied with the performance of his financial advisors and pension company, and was convinced he could do better than them. And it turned out that he was right. Since he started managing his own money in 2000, He has consistently made market-beating annual gains, and never lost money in a year - not even in 2008 when the FTSE 100 fell nearly 30%. That’s why he decided to launch Saltydog Investor, and make his trend investing system available to others. He believes private investors are poorly served by much of the financial services industry. And knows that the Saltydog system works. The principles of trend investing go back a long, long way – with one of its most famous adherents being Jesse Livermore, trading on the U.S. stock market at the end of the nineteenth century.
