Key features and themes of the Book of Exodus: 1. Israelite Slavery in Egypt: The narrative begins with the descendants of Jacob (Israel) living as slaves in Egypt. The new Pharaoh oppresses the Israelites, leading to their cries for deliverance. 2. Birth and Calling of Moses: Moses, born to an Israelite family, is chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. His early life, the burning bush encounter, and his initial reluctance to accept the mission are significant parts of the story. 3. The Ten Plagues: God sends ten plagues upon Egypt, demonstrating His power and demanding the release of the Israelites. The plagues include events such as the Nile turning to blood, the plague of frogs, and the Passover. 4.
