Grid Square

The Grid Square app displays an 8-character Grid Square Locator (also known as Maidenhead Locator, QTH Locator) calculated from geographic coordinates obtained from GPS satellites and the mobile network. Along with your current location, the app will show information about nearby landmarks – radio beacons, lighthouses, national parks and some random callsigns of ham radio clubs and individual hams in the area. In addition, geographic coordinates and altitude information are displayed, as well as a compass for orientation. Accuracy – applies only to horizontal measurements. The distance to your home location will be available after you set (remember) your home location, or any other location you wish to use as a starting point for distance measurements. To do this, you need to use the app menu. You can change it anytime, anywhere. The relative position of your current square among neighboring squares and the distance to the square boundaries are displayed in a clear graphical form - you can see the location of neighboring squares and subsquares. The inscriptions are highlighted in yellow if you are in a subsquare that borders a large square. To view more detailed information about the relative location of neighboring squares and your location inside the square, you can use: - map (click the button in the lower left corner of the screen). An Internet connection is required. - graphical interface (click the button in the lower right corner of the screen). The database is loaded during application installation and contains the following topics: - beacons - lighthouses - national parks and reserves - call signs and is displayed in 3 fields: - In this square - Nearby - In the grid You can use scrolling to view. To speak the QTH Locator value in voice or Morse code, tap the corresponding icon on the device screen Attention! The app's Time field displays the time of the last location update (not the current time). Please make sure you have given the app permission to use location services to determine your location. No internet or mobile network connection is required, except for working with map data.
