Press start and it sweeps; press again to stop and read it. Add up the dials for elapsed time: the 1/20-second sub-dial for fractions, the centre hand for seconds, the Minutes sub-dial for whole minutes, and the inner hand for hours. Example: Hours+Minutes reads 1:23, big hand on 45, 1/20 on 10 → 1 h 23 min 45.50 s. The tachymeter on the outer rim turns elapsed time into speed: start as you pass the start point, stop after exactly one mile (or kilometre), and the centre hand points to your average speed. Unit-agnostic — time a mile for mph, a kilometre for km/h.
