The app for the lovingly designed children's song search game Children love listening to music, singing, and moving to music. At the same time, even the youngest children develop a strong urge to explore: They want to explore things, look at colorful pictures, and understand connections. This is precisely where Hörchi & Kucki comes in. The original idea is to offer children a game that promotes both their auditory perception and their visual memory – and, of course, brings a lot of fun along the way. The concept isn't accidental: Many classic children's games rely on cards to turn over and memorize. But Hörchi & Kucki goes a step further: Instead of simply finding matching pictures, an additional sensory dimension is integrated – hearing. The game combines audio snippets from children's songs with matching picture cards. This way, children learn to connect a heard sound (a short musical excerpt) with a picture shown. This idea adds new zest to the classic card-revealing game and turns it into a holistic experience. The heart of the musical element of Hörchi & Kucki is the accompanying app, which is available free of charge for smartphones and tablets. It can be installed on iOS and Android devices, provided you have access to an app store. The app contains 30 different music snippets – each approximately 7 to 15 seconds long. The songs are by Simone Sommerland, Karsten Glück, and the Kita-Fröschen, who are known for their catchy and lovingly produced children's songs. • QR code scanner: As soon as you open the app, you have the option of scanning a QR code with your phone camera. This code is located on the back of the Hörchi cards. • Music playback function: If the code is recognized, the app plays the assigned song excerpt. This is not the entire song, but a key part, often a section of the chorus. This allows children to quickly hear what the song is about. • Easy to use: The app is deliberately designed to be very clear. A large scanning field and a start page with a few buttons ensure that even children (with a little help) can easily understand and repeat the process. The song excerpts are kept short so that they don't overwhelm children and don't drag out the game. Ultimately, the goal of Hörchi & Kucki is to quickly identify which picture matches what they hear, and vice versa. Age group: Hörchi & Kucki is suitable for children ages 3 and up. Even at this age, they can uncover the cards, listen, and try to match the motifs – often with adult help. The older the children are, the more independently they can play. Pedagogical value Hörchi & Kucki can be used as a tool, especially in kindergartens, after-school care centers, or preschools, to introduce children to the world of music. The short excerpts prevent sensory overload and focus the sense of hearing on the essentials: recognizing a melody and matching it to a picture. The game simultaneously promotes auditory memory, visual memory and the ability to concentrate.
