The 112 Andalucía app is a free smartphone application created by the Directorate General of Emergencies and Civil Protection to optimize emergency response within the Andalusian Autonomous Community, thanks to the application of new technologies. The app connects directly to the 112 Andalucía Emergency Coordination Center via voice or chat and simultaneously sends the exact location coordinates if location services are enabled. This speeds up the location of the incident and reduces response times. The application also allows users to send photos and files of the situation, in addition to offering all the advantages of the 112 emergency service: multilingual telephone support in the main languages ​​of the European Union, personalized support in Spanish via chat, notifications and advice with related information in areas experiencing major emergencies, and one-touch access to all available assistance in any emergency (medical, fire and rescue, public safety, and civil protection). Its large button makes it an ideal option for seniors, children, or people with visual impairments. And the chat functionality provides another way to contact those who cannot report incidents by phone, whether due to difficulty or privacy concerns. Because the 112 Andalucía app uses the European PEMEA standard for chat communications, an additional level of security and privacy is added. For optimal app performance in emergency situations, it is recommended to have location services enabled while using the application.
