Teatro Real Accessible: Experience Opera Without Barriers Teatro Real Accessible is a free app developed by the Teatro Real Foundation with the support of Telefónica Spain, designed so that everyone can fully enjoy the performances at the Teatro Real. Our mission is Universal Accessibility. This app adheres to the Principles of Design for All, eliminating barriers for users with hearing or visual impairments. It features real-time synchronized audio description, ensuring you don't miss a single detail of the performance, as well as surtitles on your mobile device. This essential support complements or replaces viewing the projections in the theater, offering convenience and clarity. All content (audio description and surtitles) is downloaded to your device beforehand, guaranteeing smooth playback perfectly synchronized with the live performance, without relying on an internet connection in the theater. Description of the entities that participated in the project Teatro Real is today one of Europe's leading opera houses, having been awarded Best Opera House in the World at the 2021 International Opera Awards and receiving the Sustainability Award in 2025 for its energy efficiency projects, making it an undisputed benchmark for Spanish cultural institutions.
