BirdNerd: Bird Song Identifier

BirdNerd is an independent app that helps identify European birds by their songs and calls. Record a bird sound with your phone, send it for analysis, and see which species BirdNerd suggests. Your recordings and identification results are saved in the app, so you can return to them later. With BirdNerd, you can: • record bird sounds outdoors; • receive suggested species identifications; • keep a personal collection of recordings; • review previous results. Identification results BirdNerd suggests species based on the sounds detected in a recording. Results can be affected by background noise, distance from the bird, overlapping vocalizations, recording quality, and whether the species is covered by the recognition system. Use each result as a starting point for identification, and compare it with the recording, location, season, appearance, behavior, and other field observations. Species coverage and internet connection The recognition system is focused primarily on European bird species. Recordings are processed on BirdNerd servers, so an internet connection is required for identification. Free use and Premium The free version includes up to 25 identifications per day. This covers typical use for most users. Premium removes the daily limit and offers a way to support BirdNerd and help keep the recognition service available. Project status BirdNerd remains available, and its core recognition service continues to be maintained. Current work is focused on stability and compatibility rather than new user-facing features.
