Track the magnificent procession of approximately 550 people in real time via GPS using the Hie Shrine official app. This is the only official app to enjoy the Sanno Festival, one of Japan's three great festivals and one of Edo's three great festivals, without missing a thing. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ About the 2026 Sanno Festival ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ The Shinko-sai is a special festival held only once every two years. The next one will be on June 12, 2026. The imperial procession, covering a total distance of 23km, will parade through the heart of Tokyo, traversing Chiyoda, Chuo, Minato, and Shinjuku wards. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ About the Shinkosai Festival ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ The procession that parades through the streets during the Shinkosai Festival is divided into four large "delegations" (teidan), and the total length is approximately 300m. • 1st Delegation This delegation, including the "Kankodori Dashi" (Kankodori Float), which is based on the legend that no one beat the drum (kanko) to express dissatisfaction with the government, and a chicken landed on the drum, spectacularly announces the start of the festival. • 2nd Delegation "Maihime" (dancing girls) dressed in miko (shrine maiden) attire and "Gakunin" (musicians) playing gagaku (ancient Japanese court music) join the procession. • 3rd Delegation This consists of two horin (portable shrines) and one mikoshi (portable shrine) carrying the deities. This is the most important delegation. • 4th Delegation Seven floats join this delegation. In addition to the "Flower Float" and "Elephant Float," this year the "Shrimp Float" will make its debut. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ What you can do with the app ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 【1】Real-time GPS tracking of the procession Instantly check the current location of the 500-person, 23km procession on a map.
