Being very careful with Android backwards compatibility and CPU architectures, the minimum recommended Android version is Lollipop 5.x (2014). That's due to the fact that the Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 protocol is unfortunately not supported on earlier android versions and TLS 1.0 / 1.1 will be deprecated in 2020 for vulnerability reasons. We kept the minimum Android version to Jelly Bean 4.1 because in some cases TLS 1.2 is supported, depending on the manufacturer.
