This app turns your phone into a webcam with the help of a custom OBS plug-in.
Phone Webcam is open source software that turns your Android device into a wireless webcam, streaming encrypted video and audio over your local Wi-Fi network to OBS Studio. Requirements: -Windows 10 PC (unsupported on Linux and Mac) -OBS Studio 32.1.0 or higher! Setup Instructions: 1. Install the latest C++ Redistributable from Microsoft: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 2. Install OBS Studio: https://obsproject.com/download 3. Install the Phone Webcam OBS plugin: https://github.com/JesseAustin/phone-webcam/releases 4. In OBS, add a "Phone Webcam" source to your scene. Set a port and a password (password required for encrypted streaming) 5. Open the app, enter the port and password (matching exactly what you entered in the OBS plugin) then, once you see "Ready to Stream" in green, tap 'Start Stream'. Your phone's camera feed will now appear in the "Phone Webcam" source. Using as a webcam in Discord: 6. Click "Start Virtual Camera" in OBS to make your scene selectable as a camera 7. For microphone audio, use VB-Cable to route OBS audio to a virtual mic: https://vb-audio.com/Cable/#DownloadCable (Note: VB-Cable not required for OBS recording/streaming alone) Troubleshooting: With Install: ❓If it tells you that you're missing "runtime" DLLs: 💡Install the C++ Redistributable linked above under "Requirements". ❓If it tells you "Phone Webcam failed to load, please uninstall or update this plugin": 💡You're missing DLLs that came with Phone Webcam. Make sure you drag the entire contents of the DLL-containing parent folder "64bit" into your machine's "64bit" folder located in "C:/Program Files/obs-studio/obs-plugins". With Connecting: ❓Can't connect? 💡You may have the wrong port, password or IP Address. As long as you have the port and password matched up correctly, clicking the pen icon in the IP Address field will toggle on auto-discovery mode and your android should automatically fetch your computer's IP address from OBS. ❓Not connecting even with the correct settings? 1️⃣ Try toggling auto-connect mode off and back on again by clicking the wifi icon and then the pencil icon in the IP address field on the right. Sometimes it just needs a little refresher once OBS is ready with the correct password/port. 2️⃣ Sync up your Phone and PC clocks as closely together as you can! Phone Webcam WILL NOT WORK if your devices are more than 2 minutes out of sync with eachother! 3️⃣ If even that doesn't work, make sure that Windows Firewall isn't blocking OBS on your local network. OBS needs to accept incoming connections on the port you've configured, 9000 by default. With Performance: ❓Seeing weird, solid-color rectangles changing their dimensions with no discernible pattern in the OBS viewport? 💡Your OBS client got ahead of itself and is trying to process the stream without decrypting it first; this shouldn't happen very often and restarting the stream should fix it. If not, report the bug via GitHub or Google Play. ❓Live camera feed is fine on OBS but suddenly starts lagging when you attempt to record footage via OBS "Start Recording" button? 💡You must configure your specific encoder in the OBS settings: 1️⃣ Open "File" > "Settings", then when the window comes up: 2️⃣ Click "Output" on the left hand side 3️⃣ At the top of the Output settings on the right, for "Output Mode" select "Advanced" 4️⃣ CLICK THE "RECORDING" TAB once you're in Advanced mode, then next to "Video Encoder", you must select: • "Quicksync H.264" if you have an Intel machine • "NVENC H.264" if you have an NVIDIA GPU • "AMF H.264" if you have a Radeon GPU Ex. on a Surface Pro 4 (integrated Intel GPU), I was able to eliminate the recording lag by selecting "QuickSync H.264" instead of "(use stream encoder)" which was the default for me in Advanced mode. Careful: In Simple mode there is "Hardware H.264" but it's NOT the same thing! Make sure to change this setting in Advanced Output Mode only.
