Thoughtful Solitaire

Nothing is hidden. That is the whole point. Deal a normal patience layout and half the tableau is face down. You play, you lose, and you never find out whether the deal could have been won at all. Thoughtful Solitaire takes that excuse away. All twenty-eight cards in the seven columns are face up from the first second, so the position in front of you is the position, complete. What changes when you can see everything Planning replaces guessing. You can spot the buried nine you will need in fifteen moves, which means you can decide now whether to spend a move protecting it. You also lose the comfort of blaming the shuffle: if the deal falls apart, the mistake sits somewhere in your own sequence of moves, and undo will carry you back to it. The rules underneath are the familiar ones.
