This app is published by the Swedish Academy and contains a minor update of the second edition of the Swedish Dictionary published by the Swedish Academy (SO). The first edition of the dictionary was published in 2009 and the second in 2021. The work on the update has been carried out at Språkbanken, Department of Swedish, Multilingualism and Language Technology (formerly Department of Swedish Language) at the University of Gothenburg. The second edition of SO, which contains almost 65,000 entries, offers its users a detailed description of a selection of words in modern Swedish. The emphasis is on the meaning/s and usage of the listed words in combination with historical information. The dictionary is primarily aimed at native speakers of Swedish and learners of Swedish at an advanced level. The dictionary articles include, among others: the following types of information about the search terms: - spelling - inflection - word class - pronunciation - meaning description - formal commentary - style level and usage - meaning relations - collocations - constructions - language examples - idiom - word history - verbal noun - sentences. The app is developed by Wang.se in collaboration with the research group at the University of Gothenburg.
