It's also possible to record audio and set up an automatic noise-trigger to get notified via email that a specified noise level threshold was exceeded. Whether you want to responsibly audio-monitor your environment, or just amplify sounds for fun, Ear Scout streams the audio from the mic to your headphones in real time.
