Kannada Odapugalu - ಒಡಪುಗಳು

Odapu can be said to be a unique tradition of North Karnataka. This is a typical North Karnataka folk style vadapus. Names of husband and wife should also be mentioned along with the pledges. Odapu is a long standing tradition. Odapu should be recited with the end rhymes of their husband/wife's name. The feelings of husband and wife are expressed in union. It is an ancient village tradition passed on by word of mouth. In marriages, the bride used to say her husband's name in the form of a riddle. Collaborations are part of our culture and a skill of the creative mind. Odapu is a wonderful literature for women. These are the basic roots of folk literature.
