Assistive Touch

Assistive Touch is designed for people with motor and dexterity impairments who cannot reliably press physical buttons or perform edge-swipe and multi-finger system gestures. It provides a resizable, repositionable on-screen control that, with a single tap anywhere on the screen, triggers core system actions — Back, Home, Recents, Notifications and Lock — as well as touch gestures such as scroll, swipe, zoom, long press and drag and drop, removing the need for precise physical button presses or complex touch gestures. WHO THIS APP IS FOR People with limited hand strength, tremor, restricted range of motion, or missing or impaired fingers who find small hardware buttons, or gestures that require swiping from a screen edge or using several fingers at once, difficult or impossible to perform reliably. HOW IT WORKS A floating on-screen control stays available over any app. Tapping it opens a menu that performs, with a single additional tap: - Go back / Go home - Open recent apps - Open notifications - Lock the screen - Open the power dialog - Open quick settings - Toggle auto-rotate / change screen rotation - Adjust volume - Scroll or swipe up, down, left or right - Zoom in or out - Long press, double tap or drag and drop, performed on the user's behalf at a point they choose ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE USE Assistive Touch uses Android's AccessibilityService API in two ways, both triggered strictly by a direct tap on the on-screen control. First, it calls performGlobalAction to carry out system-level navigation (back, home, recents, notifications, lock screen and quick settings) on the user's behalf — these are global actions that only AccessibilityService can invoke; no narrower API exposes them. Second, it uses AccessibilityService's dispatchGesture to synthesise on-screen touch gestures — scroll, swipe, zoom, tap, long press and drag and drop — so that a user who cannot physically perform a swipe or a multi-finger gesture can trigger it through a single tap instead; synthesising arbitrary touch input on the user's behalf is likewise only possible through AccessibilityService. The service does not read or collect on-screen content, does not record audio, and does not change any user settings, permissions or system configuration by itself; each action or gesture fires only when the user explicitly taps the control at that moment. The app also requests the Device Administrator permission, used solely to lock the screen on request. We do not collect any personal information. Every action is performed strictly with the user's explicit, in-the-moment consent — one tap, one action.
